...or another kind of group shot
Athens Worldwide Photowalk 2012

I'm totally fascinated by the motion blur photography. It leaves so much to the imagination and I love that. I can find endless meanings in an image that captures the pass of time, I feel like I'm watching history being created in front of me and there's nothing more enticing and captivating than that.
The idea of taking such a group shot came to me already from May, when we were at the Google+ Euro Photowalk in Berlin, but back then I wasn't quick enough to set my tripod before everyone got lined up for the group shot (and not moving), so I had to wait for my next occasion. This occasion came on Saturday with the Athens Photowalk and happily this time I was quick enough. What was more difficult was to get the people to move enough for me to capture the motion blur. Everyone was chatting and admiring the view (we are here on the Areopagus, a hill facing Acropolis and overlooking Athens, a place full of history and myths) and things were somehow static. So I had to experiment with different shutter speeds and this one was what I ended up with, 82 sec, the highest number I got and the one that finally brought me enough movement to create the feel I had in mind.
