dandelions are fierce: they find a way to live, even in no-light conditions. they’re beautiful, too, in their multi-stage ordinariness. even as i curse those in my flower beds, they remind me to slow down and pay attention. they know how to thrive.

i can easily get caught in the movies of my mind. but when i remember to remember, i return to my body and breath. in this moment, there’s all the time in the world.

happy friday, friends!

next to our cottage (on nevis), there was an ever-blooming tree. it littered the walkway with entire blossoms, not just petals, as we see during midwest spring. a friend said there’s a feeling of hope in this image, which made me think: what if we left full blossoms—compassion, love, acceptance—along our pathway? what if we littered the earth with hope, kindness, and beauty? i think it’s possible, bit by bit, one step at a time. our actions make a difference. may they be wise, kind, and true.

our backyard maple is wise: new leaves are red, not green, so not to be burned by the sun; as they gain mass and strength, they morph into their green color. i’m fascinated by these early leaves. a single leaf seems to hold lifetimes of wisdom within itself.

marcel proust wrote, “the only true voyage of discovery would be not to visit strange lands but to possess other eyes, to behold the universe through the eyes of another, of a hundred others, to behold the hundred universes that each of them beholds, that each of them is.”
