I had to scrub the bird bath out before filling it. Here in New Mexico, black mold grows on the concrete and to get it off I use a small brass barbecue brush. It cleans it up so well. With the hot temperatures and 40% humidity (which is high for here) I keep this thing filled every day. We don't often have "any" humidity but have lately. Maybe that means the monsoonal rains are coming...I surely hope that's the case! First time photographing running water, think it worked!

My mom gave me the photo of this and I loved that it had a red boat in the picture that was obscured by the trees, it's there if you look really close.
