Union Pacific power is on Norfolk Southern 338 as the crew pulls away fro Rock Hill, South Carolina in 2004.

Union Pacific Railroad Company (reporting marks UP) is a freight railroad with more than 8,000 diesel locomotives. It operates more than 32,000 miles route miles in 23states west of Chicago and New Orleans. Union Pacific is the second largest railroad in the United States behind BNSF Railway. It was founded in 1862 as part of First Transcontinental Railroad project.

In 2013, the CSX Columbia turn out of Cayce, South Carolina heads back to the yard after working several industries in South Carolina's capitol city.

Below, the same locomotive is back on Train Y102 after a rebuild by CSX?

The locomotive was built by EMD in 1979 as Louisville & Nashville Railroad GP38-2 6022, then to Seaboard System, same number. With the formation of CSX by the merger off several competing railroads, it became CSXT 2673. In the last several years, CSX has rebuilt her to GP38-3 specifications and renumbered her to 2012.

Lancaster and Chester Train 12 leaves East Chester heading to work industries in the Richburg area.

LC 6002 was originally SP 8257 (built 5/1980) i then became Union Pacfic #8802 before being bought by Gulf & Ohio Railways and assigned to the Yadkin Valley Railroad as YVRR #6002.

LC 9146 behind it is a former Union Pacific GE C40-8. She is currently stored OOS as of April 2007.

Norfolk Southern Railway Train P36 has left their train at the interchange with the Lancaster and Chester Railroad and is now waiting for the L&C to spot their cars for pick-up. NS 7016 was an EMD GP50 locomotive built in 1980 for the Southern Railway. It was rebuilt soon after this photograph was made in NS 4719, designated as a Rebuilt EMD GP33ECO.

The L&C 2273 has a slightly more complicated history. Built in December, 1971 for the Chesapeake & Ohio as the number 3791 as an EMD GP40, it later become CSX 6566. CSX sold at the Texas-Mexico who gave it it it's third number, 1173. It was later sold to FURX, a leasing company, who gave it to number it wears today and also rebuilt it to GP38-3 standards before selling it to the Gulf & Ohio Railways who assigned it to the Yadkin Valley Railroad. Finally the G&O transferred it to the L&C. It has been sold since his photograph was made in 2013.
