After waiting for about 20 minutes, in the area I was told two of these came out in plain view the day before,I turned around and there it was...the elusive Purple Gallinule. These birds change hues each and every time they turn while in full sunlight.

BTW, if you like a bit of humor of the things that have happened to me over the years on some of my photo adventures, try reading some of the stories in my Blog. I've just added the last two adventures that happened many years ago. Just waiting for the next humorous adventure to arrive.
I'm sure there must have been a couple of events that happened out of the ordinarily while some other photo adventures, but trying to remember back. 15 years now is a real task. But when I do I will write them up and post to my Blog.

I think that this wetlands was constructed with the wildlife more in mind than that of Wakodahatchee. Wakodahatchee is a Seminole word meaning "created waters", but it was first a percolation pond for treated wastewater effluent, and was later turned into wildlife habitat when man found out that natural vegetation could clean up the effluent water than just letting it percolate down into the ground.
Green Cay Wetlands, I found, was much better laid out in terms of islands and earthern berms and most generouslly planted with a more of a varity of trees.
Each area though has it's own qualities that make for outstanding wildlife images.
