One more last sunset image made a few weeks back with Michael Pancier. The day may have been a bit rough and the skies were gray, but the late afternoon light came throught for us to give us a nice sunset to work with.

The bent over short cypress tree on the left was hit by lightning a number of year ago and although bent out of shape...it is still very much alive.

I have made numerous sunset images of this location with no two identical other than the trees themselves. "Sunsets are all good...some just better than others".

Even though the osprey action is nearly over, the waterscapes and sunrise/sunsets are always there and are incredible.

If you interested in booking with me to add some of what you have seen in my images to your hard drive, please give me a call or send me an email. This place has local fully equipped cabins right on the water and my boat docks right up to the cabins.

If you have a camera capable of shooting IR, this place is incredible for just that.

One of the things I love to do is to take the telephoto lens out and pick out just small portions of the big picture. Sand dunes are ever changing day by day with the environment. When you have early morning light coming in at a low angle, the compositions are nearly endless.

There were several of these owls near the campground that called back and forth to each other. So I found this one and we played for quite awhile. But getting successful flight shots just never happened.

I eventually used this image on the front of my business card.

In general, the White Mountain Goats of MT. Evans prefer the cooler temperatures found at higher elevations in Colorado...and this goat was no exception. At nearly 14,000 ft. this goat, as well as others, have become very acclimated to humans. In fact I had one inquisitive young kid (goat) come right up to me and looked directly into my lens.

If you move very slowly and make no sudden movements, it is not uncommon to get to within 10 feet of these goats, especially if they have bedded down out of reach of the continuous winds that blow at nearly 3 miles high.

I found this one as I was negotiating one of the twelve 180 degree switchbacks in the road. I just pulled the truck up next to him/her and made this wider view to show the rugged terrain of the surrounding mountains.

But please be aware...these are still wild animals...Give them the space they are due and please don't feed them like I have seen some people do.

I went to this park last week (without camera equipment) and noticed the high water and the great reflections in the overcast lighting that day. I wanted to get right back to take advantage of those shooting conditions but didn't make it until a few days later. Well with no to little rain in between, the water drained off rather quickly...too quickly in fact and I missed the shooting conditions I wanted. Why am I mentioning this...don't hesitated when you see great shooting opportunities or better yet don't leave home without it.

For some photographers, wading through knee deep swamp water with the potential of lots of venomous snakes is not worth the risks...great place for this BTW, but I have done this for many mango seasons,as a hunter and now as a photographer. There were still pockets of water but the lighting was peek-a-boo sun and the wind was not in my favor this day.

Now I'm hoping for some serious rain again.
