Every year at about this time, the Charlotte Country Air Show arrives to town. This year a little something different from the usual US Military aerobatic flight team (Navy Blue Angels or the Airforce Thunderbirds).
This is "Heavy Metal" an all private volenteer aerobatic group which has graced our skies. My house just happens to be on one of many various flight directions to line up on center stage of the air show.
I only get these types of high speed aircrafts come over my house, as all of the other planes work close in directly over the airport. But these high speed guys (generally over 400 MPH) need more airspace in which to line up for the various manuvers. So today I took advantage of a cloudless blue sky to photograph this new group.
These guys (there are 5 planes)are former US military aerobatic pilots, flying the Russian made L-39 fighter jet...thus the white Russian star on the vertical stabilizer and the underside of the wings.
This is obviously a composite image showing the unusual camo paint pattern.
