A hawksbill turtle swims along a tropical reef on Bunaken Island in the North Sulawesi sea of Indonesia.

Despite the garbage problems, I had a wonderful time on my trip last year. Hard to believe it has been 7 months already!

Fog spills across the Golden Gate Bridge as seen from a high vantage point in the Marin Headlands approximately two hours before sunrise.

Using a specialty filter on my lens, I was able to accentuate golden orange tones in the Merced River. The spring flow created dynamic rapids forming shapes and patterns. I really liked the angles formed by this flow with the smooth water mixing with a channel of turbulence.

On a moon lit night, I photographed Yosemite Falls as storm clouds streaked by. The starry sky can be seen through the moving clouds as the entire landscape is reflected in a flooded meadow in Yosemite Valley.

With the state of California (and others) experiencing extreme drought conditions, I wonder about many things, including what spring will be like this year in Yosemite Valley. How long will the waterfalls run before they dry up?

I made this image back in December 2012, and I realized I never posted it to flickr! I have a few of those, but I hope to be posting here a little more regularly from now on. Thank you all for the continued support.

This opening in a very unique rock wall along the central California coast provides a brief window every year when the sun sets through it. The key is to have a high tide and some surf to wash all the footprints away and possibly add some water movement to the scene.

This is a blend of several exposures for depth of field and exposure using my D800E and 14-24mm lens. If you'd like to learn more about me and the classes I teach, check out my profile here on flickr.
