Each morning here in Amboseli National Park in Kenya the elephant families make their way from the protection of the forest to the grassy plains near the swamps at the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro to eat the 400-500 lbs that they must consume each day. They reverse the journey at night. The adults have bunched up around the babies to protect them when they cross the road clogged with many safari vehicles.

We saw many rhinos on our safaris at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. This park has the greatest concentration of rhinos in the world. One of the species represented there is on the endangered list. The gentle giants didn't seem to pay any attention to the safari vehicles, and we were able to get quite close at times. Below the acacia tree in the distance are markers commemorating the rhinos that have died in the park from either old age or poaching. Yes, even here in a heavily fortified, guarded and fenced conservancy poachers are still killing these majestic beasts for no reason other than the purported healthy properties of the horn.

Lion cubs just might be the cutest animal babies on the planet. We were able to watch these three nurse, then frolic around before mom lead them off into the grasses. They rest on the road in the early morning because it's not cool and damp like the grasses on the savannah. Seen on our morning game drive in Maasai Mara Reserve, Kenya, Africa.

A group of zebras is called a "dazzle"; and indeed many of them all together is dazzling to behold! I just had to walk a short distance at our tented camp to visit the watering hole and behold the constant flow of wildlife there.

And yes it's true - no two are alike !

It was thrilling to have a cheetah posed so near the road. He seemed quite unaware of the nearby safari vehicles, and just kept turning his head in all directions, presumably looking for prey.
