We went to the City today for a performance of "Book of Mormon" at the Orpheum Theater. As we were walking back to the car, I had to stop for a few pictures around Civic Center.
The dome is grander than the State Capitol building - San Francisco likes to show off !

I took a short walk at Bayfront Park on this gray, cloudy day and hiked up to the top of the hill to get this panoramic view of the salt ponds. I like the many layers of color and texture here from top to bottom.

Leslie Salt stopped harvesting salt from these evaporation ponds at least a decade ago, but the battle over redevelopment of the land continues. Here in the Bay Area, where land values are astronomical, the pressure to fill this in and build condos and strip malls is intense. I'm on the side that wants it all restored to marshland where we can walk and watch birds and take photographs without having to peer over a barbed wire fence.
