I've worked since I was 16, in retail, hotels, small business, and for many years in Silicon Valley corporate management; put myself through college earning a BSBA and an MBA degree.
But by far the most rewarding accomplishment of my life is motherhood and the two beautiful and intelligent daughters I've raised. They are caring, conscientious and good human beings, and I'm so proud of both of them.
It's a job for which I received far less training than any other paid job, a job characterized by constant worry and manic swings from pure terror (when they were sick or hurting), to pure elation - watching them take off the training wheels for the first time, get the first volleyball serve over the net, or walk across the stage to collect awards and diplomas.
It's also a job from which I can never get laid off, fired, or demoted; though I'm hoping eventually to earn a promotion to grandmother ! (hint, hint.... girls)
Though it's nice to get flowers and cards and special recognition, it's really not necessary. I am rewarded every day for being a mom, the best job in the world.
