This is my block for the
QuiltCon Block Challenge. I fell in love with the colour scheme and needed an excuse to buy more fabric so I ordered a half-yard bundle of Kona from
Mad About Patchwork to make my block.
The curved triangle unit is paper pieced and the background pieces were cut using templates and attached using a standard pinless curved piecing technique. The design is the same as the one I used for the patchwork panel in
this pouch except I used the fancy triangle version instead of plain rectangles. This block is a great representation of me as a quilter because it uses my two favourite techniques.
The design is from the book "Flying Colors" by Gail Garber. I used the foundation that was published along with an article in the July 2011 issue of American Quilter magazine. I used my computer to enlarge the foundation and scale it from a square block to a rectangle.
The unfinished block size is 12.5" tall by ~16" wide.
