My partner in the Instagram Mini Swap said she liked vintage-made-modern and posted an inspiration mosaic showing many examples of pink being used as a neutral. I struggled to come up with a design that ws her style but that I also loved. In the end I went with a classic design and used pink as a neutral but added in a scrappy rainbow colour scheme to make it more modern and to make it something I would love as much as her (I hope!)

Title: Triangle Rainbow
Pattern: An original design
Fabrics: 130+ different fabrics. The pink fabrics are all used in at least two blocks but each of the rainbow fabrics is used in only one block. The binding is Netorious in Melody Pink from the Cotton and Steel Basics line. The backing is a print from Sarah Fielke's Enchanted line. See a photo of the label which shows the backing and binding here
Quilting: Hand quilted using Aurifil 12 weight cotton thread in a pink colour (number 2425.) I quilted a line through each diagonal row of pink triangles. See a closeup photo of the quilting here.
Batting: Hobb's Heirloom Washable Wool (chosen because it is very easy to hand quilt)
Finished Size: 18" x 20"
Started and Completed: November 2014

There are 720 triangles in this quilt making 360 triangle squares. Each block is made up of four triangle squares and there are 90 blocks. The triangle squares are 1" finished.

I used my Accuquilt Go Baby to cut all of the triangles. I cut the fabrics with right sides together so that all I had to do was put them through the sewng machine once I was done cutting. It saved a tonne of time and at this size in this quantity the accuracy of die cutting was definitely worth it. Plus, it meant no dog ears to trim.
