This friendly fellow was in our next door neighbor's yard and my friend Dave pointed him out to me.

I ended up taking this one handed shot with my right hand while the mantis was balanced on my outstretched left hand. The background is the water of a pool.

The morning light lit up the sagebrush and the sky for a few brief seconds.....and I was grateful to have a camera in my hands to capture the magic of the moment.
