The bluebonnets have arrived in North Texas and I was out shooting them yesterday morning.
A young Mother showed up and was taking portrait shots of her two children in the field. I introduced myself and took some shots of them sitting with her. After we were done, I snapped this shot as I walked away......and I think it was the best of the bunch since it captured for me the innocence of youth.

During the first couple of weeks in April, some parts of the Texas countryside are covered with spectacular patches of bluebonnet wildflowers that absolutely are a photographer's dream...
My wife and I ventured this Sunday about 20 miles south of Dallas to a 2.8 mile stretch of road called Sugar Ridge Road and were stunned - fields and hills covered with bluebonnets for as far as the eye could see.
Here's a profile shot my wife snapped of me as I shot away....and as you can see, I was focused on the shot ahead that was even more spectacular than the shot to my side.
And here's the photo I took while she took this one of me:

There are times when words can't adequately describe the brilliance of nature.... and this was one of those moments for me.
Needless to say, I felt privileged to be standing at this spot with this scene before me.... and lucky to have my lens in my hands on a magical blue sky afternoon.
Here's a photo my wife took of me taking this very image:

Nature paints the pictures and we are just lucky to be present when it all comes together.
I happened to be at the right place at the right time with the right equipment in my hands.
This is "as shot" with my Nikon D80. I did not crop it and I did not add saturation - the only "tweak" I did was give the image a nudge in the contrast department.
The horse and farm reside along Sugar Ridge Road approximately six miles southeast of Ferris, Texas....
