An irritating bad back has prevented me from doing as much shooting as I'd like this past winter. This is almost in my backyard so it's easy to get to but you start taking views like this for granted. The other night, my friend Chris and I went to shoot and had a great time. We ended up with a ticket but it was still worth it. I did a bit of a longer exposure to get some movement from the one lousy cloud that passed by.

I'm going through the archives since I don't have access to my desktop right now. This was a great evening of shooting with Flickr friend Randy who generously showed me a couple of spots that weren't well known.
Due to thousands of dollars of damages at my place in AZ, I have contractors in ripping out cabinets, floors, walls etc. Because of the noise, mess and no plumbing for days, I had to get out and am forced to work on the laptop again so viewing at the precise angle I worked on this is required:-). I'm afraid this mess could drag on longer than anticipated so I may not be able to comment much. I'll catch up when I can.

While at a Pow Wow in Mesa yesterday, we kept watching the clouds coming in and thought we may finally get a great sunset. Of course we did........because my ailing 5D is in the shop! Damn!! It hasn't been right since it got soaked in Moab and then subjected to a dust storm in Monument Valley. After lots of blue skies, I was hoping for one of those great sunsets you get occasionally in the desert. Had to pull out my back-up camera...the old 40D.
It was an unbelievable sunset......it just kept going and going and the colours and streaking were amazing. I was tempted to tone the colours down but think it really represents the reality of how incredible it was. I love the colours in the skies here. I couldn't decide so will post both and I hate putting them in the comments after the Flickr changes.
I had quite a bit to deal with when I returned to my place in AZ and have been quite busy so please excuse my recent absence.

I have been enjoying the scenery in the Moab area the last few days. It's been a few frustrating days. First, my new laptop crapped out. Got it back after restoring it to the factory settings. Then photoshop disappeared. Had to download another on a trial basis so I could process photos. Adobe wouldn't recognize my serial number?? Caught in the pouring rain yesterday in Arches. My camera got as soaked as I did. It stopped working! Ran and got rice and put my camera and lens in it. Seemed to work and the camera came around. I didn't think about my CF card. Got up at 4:30 am today to shoot Mesa Arch and we had a beautiful sunrise. I got some great shots too. Problem is that when I went to review them again later, my camera said "no image". I knew there were images on the card but all there were was a bunch of freaky streaks. I'm still not sure if the card was damaged from the rain or it was a corrupt card. Bottom line is I lost all my images of Mesa Arch. I'm trying not to cry about it.
We're heading to Monument Valley tomorrow and then on to Page area for a couple of days. Hopefully we'll have more luck getting rooms. There have been few vacancies since east of Denver.
Because this was processed on my laptop, I suggest you view with your monitor at exactly the same angle that I processed it at:-)).
