On May 10,2024, the strongest aurora in 20 years, the most romantic fireworks from the universe, set up a new record for San Francisco Bay Area.

I was so lucky to witness/record the aurora lights dancing with SFO PlaneTrail.

Here is the timelapse of 728 shots taken in ISO3200, F2.8, 1 second:

In the past, people would PS the aurora over the San Francisco Bay Area on April Fools’ Day, because there had never been such a record in the past.
But the strongest aurora in 20 years, the most romantic fireworks from the universe, rewrote all the records the past Friday.
I spent the first two hours in the Golden Gate Bridge, and then I went to the SFO airport, thinking that the planes taking off and landing could have more interactions with the sky dancing with the aurora. Meanwhile I can pick up my daughter who was returning to San Francisco from school in Boston that night at 12 o’clock. I was surprised to see my daughter also captured the aurora on the plane with her mobile phone. Cheers!

This was taken 8 years ago. I have no idea why the picture was disappeared from my photo stream, when I got a request to show to my friends when they are planning to visit this spot. Luckily I still have a back up.
