Don McQuade is an accomplished and passionate photographer who refined his own unique style of landscape and wild life photography in and around Ontario’s beautiful Algonquin Park.
In his late 80’s Don is now completely blind but his affection for photography and knowledge of the park remains as impeccable as it was at the height of his craft 30 years ago.
I listened with astonishment as Don recently recollected exact details, drew written directions and meticulously guided me through locations on maps for the park and it’s expansive surrounding areas. All of which proved to be absolutely faultless upon my arrival.
With his eyesight no longer allowing him the privilege to enjoy the progression that photography has made in recent years it is only just that I dedicate this collection of images from the beautiful Algonquin park to Don McQuade and recognise his insights and knowledge for what it is – truly inspiring.
Don – here are two panoramic images of Algonquin Park, digitally layered onto a beige canvas.
The top image uses 9 tree stumps as the primary subject with the deep maple reds drawing interest behind them. The second image is intense and intricate with bright yellow and orange leaves populating the entire scene.
