This is my favorite photo by one of the greats, Henri Cartier-Bresson. Today would be his 104th birthday.

I was so delighted that I was able to shoot this during my trip to Paris this spring.

127 years ago today, the Statue of Liberty was dedicated. This is what she looked like when she was being built by Bartholdi at the Gaget, Gauthier & Co. workshop in Paris.

President Cleveland spoke next, stating that the statue's "stream of light shall pierce the darkness of ignorance and man's oppression until Liberty enlightens the world"

See this scene today.

100 years ago today, Japan gave the US the first cherry blossom saplings to be planted at the Tidal Basin, giving Washington it's most beautiful spring feature. The Cherry Blossom Festival is a madhouse on most nice weather days while they're blooming, but occasionally, you can catch it when it's not so crowded, and just sit and relax. During those times, I genuinely believe there is no better city on earth.

Original photo taken between 1909 and 1932, courtesy of the Library of Congress.

Also, be sure to check out Brian Mosley's wonderful Cherry Blossom LITP shot as well!

I hacked together a new camera using the FPP Debonair and a Novar lens/shutter from a Zeiss Nettar that I had done some work on previously. Apparently, I put one of the glass elements in backwards, leading to this look. I have dubbed it the FPP Novair. It's Glass Filmtastic!

The thing on the hotshoe is an auxiliary rangefinder for focusing purposes.
