An unusual square paint is a feature of the Drawing Room in 18th century Beningbrough Hall, North Yorkshire. The square piano has horizontal strings arranged diagonally across the rectangular case above the hammers and with the keyboard set in the long side, with the sounding board above a cavity in the short side.
Beningbrough Hall is a large Georgian mansion which overlooks the River Ouse. It has baroque interiors, cantilevered stairs, wood carving and central corridors which run the length of the house.
The Hall is open to the public thanks to the National Trust.
