After a tough first day at the 61g ocean entry lava flow, Aaron, Zach, and I hoped for better fortunes the next morning. While having dinner the night before, Nick of Lava Light prayed for us to get surface flow on the bench. Little did he realize but his prayers became reality.

When we first arrived at the ocean entry viewpoint there were two small surface flows plummeting into the ocean. As both CJ and Nick say, the flow is constantly changing and nothing lasts forever. Right around twilight the surface flow began crackling and expanding. All of a sudden the two small flows metastasized into a giant river of lava. It was a spectacle seeing it in person and even photos cannot do justice of the powerful forces that Pele unleashed.
