Bognæs is a protected peninsula at the bottom of Roskilde Fjord. Along the lobed coast of the peninsula lies grassy salt marshes and tubs, which in several places are transformed into very fine woodlands and are plowing with the high-stemmed beech forest. Bognæs has a southern connection to Zealand via a narrow drag. Bognæs forms a two-part peninsula that separates Kattinge Vig, Bredningen and Lejre Vig from each other. The large forest and Vesterskoven are separated by the small cove Ølvig. The peninsula has a very lobed coastline and is surrounded by several small islands and islets. Most of the peninsula consists of forest and in some places the forest goes right to the shore. The terrain is slightly wavy with some hills.
