Manipulated photograph from America I've been told. Q.R. Paull in Brisbane seems to have had the copyright to it in Australia. Tall-Tales postcards were popular at this time.
Apparently created in 1909 by Oscar Erickson and credited to his studio called the Photo Art Shop. The sign on the railroad car says Haskell and Barker Car Co, Builder, Michigan City, IN.
