On Labor Day, we had breakfast with phenomenal photographer and friend, Darcy Fiero, at the Royal Hawaiian. In the afternoon, Kathy and I drove to the North Shore to visit the North Shore Soap Factory in the Historic Sugar Mill in Waialua, enjoy some shave ice at Matsumoto's, and have lunch at Haleiwa Joe's. We made another stop at the Dole Plantation before heading to the West Shore. We took Farrington Highway to Keawaula Beach (Yokohama Bay) and arrived just before sunset. We sat on a sandy berm watching the waves crash and the sky change colors. After sunset, we walked to the car and I noticed an amazing afterglow was developing. Kathy waited while I returned to the beach for a few pictures. On Labor Day and on our first day, August 29th, were my favorite sunsets by far.
