It is the time of year that I will see the dawn light during my morning trip to work.

I decided to keep a record of sights I see on my way to work. I did not take my bulky DSLR and instead I picked my cheap and humble Fuji S1600 compact for the in-the-car shooting.

In the foggy morning during the last few days, I took a few shots on my way to work and the shots are mostly taken when the car was running in full speed on highway (I was not the driver).

I have no time to carefully frame the composition (the car is running really fast) but they are snapshots showing the scenes on the highway from Richmond to Delta where my workplace is located.

This is the one taken at the traffic light stop on River Road in Delta.

Happy weekend!!

I don't have any good luck for macro shots lately.

When I went out with my macro lens, it was windy and the flowers kept shaking their heads. And I am not able to take a decent shot. So I recovered an archive close up picture for posting today.

Have a great Friday and weekend!

This is repost of an archive shot in 2012.

The following is the original story.

Please don't be scared.
Please don't run away.
When I am getting closer.
What I want to do is just standing right next to you.

Happy Monday to all of you and happy Labour Day to my Canadian friends!

Close up at Minoru Park Richmond.

I love shooting candid. I love B&W. So B&W candid is the best!

Usually people shoot candid pictures with focus on one or two subjects (individuals) in the scene.

I find it more difficult to spot interesting and meaningful scene with a group of people. So it is fair to say it is much more difficult to shoot group candid.

What will be the most critical elements in a successful group candid picture in your opinion?

This is an archive picture taken in 2014 and I will count it as a group candid.

Wish you a great Monday and great week ahead!

The following is the original story in the post.

What kind of approach you will take in street photography?

Shooting from a vantage point at long distance using telephoto lens? Trying to catch the candid without interrupting the scene?

Or you will go into the crowd and shoot with a standard 50mm or even wide angle lens right in the middle of scene? Trying to have eye contact of your subjects and interact with the people you are shooting?

This is the scene of viewers and photographers seen at Chinatown parade weeks ago.

Have a great weekend!

Last year (2013), I had a small showing of my pictures in a local cafeteria at Gastown.

It was a great opportunity for me to show some of my street pictures in print form to other people.

I have to pay the framing and prints. It was quite a sum to be paid. I don't know if I could afford and do that again even I have another chance.

Photography is an expensive hobby! Do you think so?

I am offering my framed pictures for sale. If you are interested and you are also Vancouver local (I can only arrange for local pickup), please feel free to contact me by email at hhui@live.ca.

Happy Thursday!

The following is the original story about my photo showing in the coffee shop.

I am having a mini-scale photo exhibition in cafe The Baker & The Chef located at Gastown Vancouver. I have six black & white pictures in display. The showing will run from beginning of April to end of May.

The location information as follows.

The Baker & The Chef
320 Cambie Street (in the block north of West Hastings)

In February, I received the invitation from Sally, the owner of cafe and she is so kind to offer me this opportunity in showing my pictures in print to the public.

I would like to invite my Vancouver Flickr friends to come and visit if you are around the area in downtown. The cafe owner is also very kind to offer free small coffee to my friends.

If you like them on Facebook or drop off your business card upon visit and mention that you are Flickr friend of Harris, they will be happy to offer you a free small coffee.

Picture taking and showing the pictures to other people are both important parts of my photographic experience. I am so grateful to my Flickr friends who viewed my pictures on internet and The Baker & The Chef now allows me to show pictures in print to viewers in the public. All these have made my photographic experience more fulfilling and meaningful.

I look forward to your visit to my small pictures showing and your comments!

Thank you my friends!!

Happy Monday and a great week ahead!

Dictators called themselves great leaders. Communists are in collaboration with the capitalists. The politicians who serve their sponsors claimed they are serving the people and the voters.

Poverty, corporate dominance, social polarization, inequality are escalated by the court system or so called rule of law.

Is this world more like a black comedy playing everyday? Shall we laugh or shall we cry when seeing these?

This is shop window seen in Granville Island.

Have a great Monday and week coming!
