A phone panorama of the Winterwatch studio, about half hour before going on-air. An amazing, cold, fun, wet, boozy, busy, tiring, awesome time again. Already looking forward to the next trip to the Cairngorms.

An exception to my 'strictly wild' policy on my photostream - Me and the beautiful Orla, the Golden Eagle. Orla was one of the stars of Winterwatch this year. Unlike the two birds filmed on the remote cams, Orla is captive bred, and she was hugely popular with the whole crew. If you want to meet Orla for yourself, you can see her at Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre where she is cared for by the capable hands of Stewart Robertson, who she adores.

It was never going to be practical to take my camera gear with me to Leighton Moss, nor would I have had time to use it, but I did keep a pocket camera to hand. It was a pleasure to take this shot of a Marsh Harrier hunting over the reed-bed, whilst behind me, the incredible Darren Woodhead was painting the scene as it happened. Make sure to check out his work!

Back home after two weeks working on Autumnwatch at RSPB Leighton Moss in Lancashire. It's an awesome reserve, and the RSPB staff and volunteers there are equally awesome. Long hours, little sleep, but great fun.
A bunch of snaps in the comments below...
