While in Costa Rica I set up trail cameras in five locations around the country in the hope of capturing one or more of the cat species there, amongst other things. During my time there, all they captured was Collared Peccary, Agouti, Tayra and 9-banded Armadillo. I decided to leave one camera trap set up in a place that seemed promising for cats in an area of lowland tropical forest on the Osa Peninsula, and persuaded a kind local to check the camera occasionally for me. The first batch of photos have shown that it captured White-nosed Coati, Agouti, Collared Peccary, Northern Tamandua, Raccoon and best of all, this Ocelot.
