Groveland is a bit of a mystery. While I've passed through it many times on U. S. Highway 280, and even stopped on more than one occasion to photograph its iconic roadside store and Sunbeam bread sign, I had never ventured onto this road (Moody Bridge Road) before. What I found was a fairly well-preserved and representative collection of vernacular architecture, moved in at some point by the Warnell family. I harbored an almost childlike hope that the buildings were original to the location, but have decided they are just as important in this incarnation. Very few people have the resources or the interest in preserving vernacular structures, but Groveland proves it can be done.
