Sparta, Hancock County GA
The old Eagle Tavern, built in the late 1700s, was the scene of a grand ball for the Marquis de LaFayette in 1825. Burned in the late 1830s, it was replaced by the present structure, now known as the LaFayette Hotel, in 1840.
