So I had the idea of taking 1 second pictures over the course of 20 minutes. My hope was to see if this helped to understand the tracking issues I've been having.

I did a VERY rough polar alignment, so the movement you are seeing above may very well be polar alignment error. Or might be the drive nut wobble. But you can see, there is a pretty big problem. :(

This is at 150mm. At 50mm I didn't seem to notice it for the majority of frames. But even then, the trailing motion was still there, just much less.

In hindsight, if I would have known it was going to be clear-ish last night, I would have set this up outside. But this was made after my barndoor video.

Wanted to see if the drive nut had wobble issues. Looks like its there, but not sure if that's the cause of the errors. I don't have an image, but the error looks like "barbells" most of the time. Basically @ 150mm every other image is trailed (while the previous is sharp).

So I was wondering if there was a wobble in the drive gear, or if it was because of the curve bolt.

Still need to add a wedge, clean up the cables, and test with my 150mm 2.8. Hopefully with 2x teleconverter too. :)

Really, really short video of the clouds passing by using a welding glass as a neutral density.

The reason its so short is that I didn't have an intervalometer and my exposures were 20 seconds each. Not to mention my lunch break was short. :)

Next time I will try to devote more time, and make the exposures much longer (60sec or more) to really smooth the motion.

Heh, maybe I can try and attempt to make my own intervalometer. :)
