I happened upon Wood's Lake, Ca near the Carson Pass one brisk October morning, hoping to find groves of golden aspen on the road leading to it. Instead, I was treated to this tranquil little alpine lake shortly after sunrise. I was its lone visitor. Occasional patches of snow on grasses were all that were left behind from an unusually early Sierra snowstorm that dumped 8 inches that week. Noticed only after post-processing (and viewing LARGE, hint hint) were subtle streaks of light on the lake's reflections, caused by the low lying sun peaking through the forest.
