Looking like a model train set town, the view of the Palouse from Steptoe Butte is like no other that I have seen. Bring your longest lens you own...or rent a 400mm lens like I did. Catching long afternoon shadows and aiming 90 degrees from the setting sun with a circular polarizing filter added some pop to the scene.

Power of the Palouse. It’s why we set our alarms at 03:55 while on vacation. Every once in a while, the elements come together when least expected. Getting a non-iconic image from a commonly photographed location and sharing the scene with a few buddies are reasons why I keep getting up at these stupid early hours.
