14. April 2012. Pyongyang. View of the Chollima statue from the Arch of Triumph. The statue was built in 1961 to honor the heroism and invincible fighting spirit of the undefeated Korean people. On another subject, the purple flower is called the kimilsungia and the red flower is the kimjongilia. The kimjongilia was cultivated by a Japanese botanist who gifted this new flower to Kim Jong-il on his 46th birthday. It supposedly blooms every year for his birthday on February 16.

15. April 2012. Pyongyang. BUS WINDOW SHOT. Sneak shots out the bus window weren't really allowed. That said, I didn't see anything that would clearly want to be hidden by the D.P.R.K. That is, I saw no starving children eating grass, I saw no abuse by the police, no missile launches, etc. What I did see out the bus window during the few days here were thousands of people on the streets, none of them hungry as far as I could tell.
