This Lesser Scaup got a little too close to a nesting Grebe. A sharp poke in the butt from under-water convinced the Scaup to vamoose... (if you look closely, there is another Grebe directly under the bird).
For the past couple of weeks, I have been posting a lot of Heron and Egret images. I am often asked how I get the shot. Requirements: some strategically place perches, a set of hip waders, and a calm acceptance of the fact that you might dunk your camera.
Special thanks to John Voros for taking this image and sending me a copy.
