I finally landed my first decent shot of a Macgillivray's Warbler. This is about as fancy as they come out here on the West Coast in NorCal. Very tough get for me, but was happy with the few shots I managed to get. Click for large view,
I really love the effect of photographing birds in the shade when the background is in light. This was taken at the end of the day and the soft light was bringing out some wonderful colors behind this Barred Owl.
Thanks for visiting!

Thought I would post a second shot of the bluebells at Micheldever. To be fair, the bluebells were not the subject of either shot really. Instead they were more about the light, mist and shadows. I have dozens of shots of the bluebells but haven't found anything yet that stands out to me as being unique, so for now I guess they will remain gathering dust on my computer.

Northern Pygmy-Owls hunt by day, making them easier to see than many owls, especially when they perch on tops of conifer trees. They eat mainly small birds, which they sometimes hunt at bird feeders. They fly in an undulating pattern, like a woodpecker.
