This luxury home is a mere two miles from mine. The land it occupies was homesteaded at the end of the 19th century by descendants of one of the long-time families on our ridge. The family now occupies a home directly across the road. I guess they keep this place intact so they remember where they came from. Interestingly, this home was occupied long enough to eventually install electricity, but you still had to do your business in a detached outhouse.

Springtime in Zion Canyon. Red rock, lush green vegetation. I've long been fascinated by the small dwelling at the base of the mountains. It's the kind of place where I'd like to hunker down and watch the seasons change over a year. I suspect there would be much to marvel at--and much to learn.
