One of North America's more spectacular birds. They are easy to spot because they like to perch in the open and their long tails give away the species. They have an intense salmon-colored "wing-pit" with a lighter blush of salmon on their flanks.

While out birding I ran into this specimen. The baseball cap is there to indicate size. I estimate its weight at 6-10 lbs (2.7 - 3.6 kilos). Lion's Mane is a "toothed" fungus.
