One of North America's more spectacular birds. They are easy to spot because they like to perch in the open and their long tails give away the species. They have an intense salmon-colored "wing-pit" with a lighter blush of salmon on their flanks.

This warbler spends its summers in the northern spruce forests of North America. Its specialty is eating spruce budworms so it is beneficial in that it helps keep the populations of this destructive worm in control.

Unfortunately, human spraying to control the budworm is apparently reducing the populations of this beautiful warbler.
