Castle Platamonas Lombards built by Crusaders in 1204 on the ancient Greek Macedonian Iraclia city and serve the control of "stale" Tempi, strategic passage namely from Macedonia to Thessaly and the top-down supervision of the western entrance of As Thermaikos gulf.
After the conquest of the Byzantine troops, the Turks occupied the castle for the first time around in 1386, but soon fell into Venetian possession. In business for the recapture of the Castle from the Turks in 1425, the Venetians prevailed over 100 Turks were burned alive inside the castle. After 1427 the Venetians lost back control of the Castle of Platamonas, when the Turks established their dominance.
In 1770 it was occupied briefly by the Greeks, as in 1825 and 1878. It was bombed by the master
Sachtouri in 1897 and then abandoned by the Turks.
The fact that the castle was not destroyed by the Turks seems to be due
in strategic importance.
In 1941 the castle was used as a fortress of the New Zealanders, who planned to delay the descent of the Nazis to Thessaly.
In this there are the three main characteristics of medieval fortresses: the first enclosure, the second enclosure which is the citadel and the central tower. The outer wall of the castle has a polygonal shape.
Today the castle of Platamonas is perhaps the most important attraction of Pieria and "trademark" of the county.

Saint Andreas The today-honored Saint Apostle Andreas the Protoklitos(firstly called by Jesus) is, of course, known as the patron saint of Patras.
From the Byzantine period, however, he was the patron saint of Nafplion too.
There was also a large Byzantine church of Saint Andrew from the 8th century at Akronafplia, which was demolished by the Turkish conquerors in 1540 and the mosque of the poet was built in its place.
In the dawn of 30 November 1822, on the anniversary of St. Andrew's Day, after the heroic action of Demetrios Moschonisiotis, the fearless besieger of Staikos Staikopoulos liberated the city from the Turkish yoke.

Τρίκαλα Trikala
on my blog ΛΟΓΕΙΚΩΝ Logicon
Legendary "Karvouniaris" press 100, in years, of course, because the speed was never able to overcome the 50 klm.p.h. nor the glories of that is, when performing the services Kalabaka-Volos and vice versa because the power just enough 55 hp and weight of the machine touched 35 tonnes !!!!!!!!
The erstwhile locomotive "22" of the Greek railways now arrived at the last station in the square OSE Trikala, becoming one of the historical monuments in the rail industry !.
The engine and carriages of repaired by the municipality of Trikala and allocated to the Railway Association of Friends of Trikala who turned it into the club office to house its actions.
These initiatives are aimed at creating a visitation area for the schools of the area to be informed about the history of the railroad through the movies and photos upgrading in this way a living museum with heart and soul.
