The Netherlands-Gaast
Morning view on the Frisian village Gaast, just next to the IJsselmeer dyke. The village was first mentioned in the 13th century as lutekagast. Gaast developed on a sand bank near the former Zuiderzee, nowadays the freshwater IJsselmeer. The economy used to be based on fishing and sailing, but Gaast became an agricultural community, later on. The Dutch Reformed church was built in the 14th century. Nederlân-Fryslân
De Rottige Meente is in natuerreservaat, op de grins fan Fryslân en Oerisel. It is yn de 19e iuw en 20e iuw ûntstien troch turfwinning. De namme betsjut wierskynlik "minne mienskiplike greide". It gebiet is yn besit fan Steatsboskbehear. Om 1900 hinne begûn hjir de ûntginning, dy't oan de fyftiger jierren fuortset waard. Troch it weigraven fan it fean kaam it gebiet leger te lizzen, wêrtroch it oerbleaune leechfean drige te ferdrûgjen.
Om de Grutte Fjoerflinter en de Jeropeeske otter te beskermjen waarden yn juny 1955 in pear persielen oankocht. Letter binne noch ferskate dielen folge, ek yn it ramt fan in ruilverkaveling. By it fyftichjierrich bestean yn 2005 hie it reservaat in totale oerflakte fan ûngefear 1000 ha. Petgaten en stripen bringe de turfwinning yn it ûnthâld. It gebiet bestiet fierders út lytse stikjes greide, trilfeanen en feanmoasreidlannen. It gebiet wurdt yn it westen begrinze troch de doarpen Munnikebuorren, Skerpenseel en Spangea. Midden yn it gebiet leit Nijetrine.

The Netherlands - Wânswert
The village Wânswert is -one of many- picturesquely situated Frisian villages. The village has a population of about 220. From the late medieval St. Peter's Church (mainly 15th century) it's a very short stroll to the polder windmill Victor (1867). The Netherlands-Wijckel
The Frisian village Wijckel is situated in the Gaasterland region, between Balk and Sloten, just south of lake Sloten (Slotermeer). The Dutch Reformed Church - the Vaste Burchtkerk- has a 15th century tower which has been enlarged in 1821. In 1671 a new church has been built adjacent to the - comparatively large- tower. The church contains the tomb of strategist and fortress builder Menno van Coehoorn (1641-1704). In the background lake Sloten (Slotermeer) is visible.
