The internationally appreciated artist Ruud van de Wint (1942-2006) lived and worked in an inland dune area in Den Helder (The Netherlands) since 1980. Here, the landscape and his structures are deeply connected. For instance, the artist made use of the 29 WW II bunkers located on this spot. Van de Wint once wrote: "My words are my sculptures, my sculptures are my paintings, my paintings are my structures."
More info: [projectdenollen.nl/]
For a kite aerial photographer like me the structures of Van de Wint are interesting, for instance straight from above. The images are made with permission of the Van de WInt familiy and De Nollen foundation.

The Afsluitdijk is a major landmark (or a watermark, if you will) in the Netherlands. The dike was completed in 1933 and leads you in 32 km from Den Oever in North Holland to the province Friesland.
It is a fundamental part of the larger Zuiderzee Works, damming off the Zuiderzee, a salt water inlet of the North Sea and turning it into a fresh water lake (the IJsselmeer).
Image made with kite and camera (attached to the kite line).
