The Netherlands Den Helder
View on fort Kijkduin, of which the first fase was built in 1813 by order of Napoleon Bonaparte, who saw the strategic importance of Den Helder.
During World War II the fort was in use by the Germans.
Nowadays the fort houses a North Sea aquarium, an exhibition of marine mammals with (a.o.) the nearby stranded "Chris" the sperm whale.
In the foreground a fenced field with something that looks like a monument for a UFO landing. Who knows?
Image made with kite and camera.

The Netherlands- Julianadorp
"Groote Kaap" ("Big Cape") is not a monumental lighthouse (a.d. 1966, replaced 1985), but it's truly a beacon in its enviroment. Once there were two "Capes" here, the big one and a smaller one. "Small Cape" was broken down about 50 years ago.
