Monumental pumping-station(1844) of Spaarndam. Built before the impoldering of the "Haarlemmermeer", by way of precaution.
Originally with steam engine, but in 1936 replaced by two diesel engines. The station takes water in from Spaarne river and the "Mooie Nel" (in background) and discharges it in "Zijkanaal C", near the North Sea Canal.
