The Netherlands-North Sea Canal
View on North Sea Canal, the connection between Amsterdam harbour and North Sea. On this spot a highway tunnel (Velsertunnel) was constructed in 1957. During the digging the remains of a (northernmost) Roman harbour and stronghold were uncovered.
The ventilation towers (nickname: the hyacinths) lost their function after a renovation of the tunnel in 2016.
