The Netherlands-Marken
Marken is a former island and since the construction of this causeway in 1957 connected to the mainland of North Holland and thus a peninsula in the Markermeer. Marken is part of the municipality of Waterland in the east of the province of North Holland in the west of the Netherlands. The characteristic wooden houses of Marken are a tourist attraction.
