The (northeast part of the) Jagersveld, known for the first find of Natrix natrix, the european grass snake, in Zaanstad. These snakes throw up their last meal when disturbed. In nearby Amsterdam the cities ecologist found a 83 cm. long snake that threw up another grass snake with a length of 65 cm. Afterwards the 83 cm. long one declared that he had no idea of his species being protected by Dutch law.
