The Netherlands-Uitgeest
Wiggly, "sloppy" ditches in the man-made, and mostly straight build Province North-Holland are often remnants of ancient times. As is the case with this ditch along the border of Uitgeest. "De Dije" used to be a creek of the "Oer-IJ", a former branch of the "Upper-Rhine", that once discharged in the North Sea, on the spot where the village Castricum is situated.
