Nature reserve Polder Zeevang (Netherlands), known for its birdlife. Everything is straight here, the land, the roads, the canals. All man made. Except for one stream, the Kromme IJe, a supposedly natural peat river. A drain relic of the early Middle Ages, when this area consisted of raised bog.
In the background (right) the village Warder can be seen, as well as a small part of the Markermeer.
