At Towneley park

We’re having wonderfully beautiful weather lately; but it’s too hot for our four legged friends with their fur and paws on hot surfaces.
We walked in the cool woods early this morning.

The view from our cottage

We’ve just started a two centres and two week holiday. The first week is in a cottage in Rothbury, Northumberland, England; the second week will be in a cottage near Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Scotland.

This is the beautiful sunset on our first night in Rothbury.

When the spent sun throws up its rays on cloud
And goes down burning into the gulf below,
No voice in nature is heard to cry aloud
At what has happened. Birds, at least must know
It is the change to darkness in the sky.
Murmuring something quiet in her breast,
One bird begins to close a faded eye;

Hurrying low above the grove, some waif
Swoops just in time to his remembered tree.
At most he thinks or twitters softly, 'Safe!
Now let the night be dark for all of me.

Scotland

Eyemouth is in the Scottish Borders. We were first told by a couple to visit Eyemouth about 5 years ago when we were staying in Otterburn, England.
Now whenever we’re in the area we like to visit.

The couple told us that a place called Mackay’s does the best ice cream. It’s very good. I don’t know if it’s the best, but I’d like to be the judge 😄

Tree trunks

A couple of years ago my father in law and me cut one of our trees down. I kept four pieces of the trunk.
This week I stripped the bark off the tree trunks, I then sanded them down and varnished them.
Outside the shed we have two seats and a little table (and a spare one for in the garden at a later date).
