The heart of the Milky Way stands out as the most captivating and diverse part of the night sky when observed from Earth. As a photographer deeply engrossed in the technical aspects of photography and drawn to intricate panorama work, I find immense pleasure in employing longer focal lengths and a star tracker to capture this celestial expanse. My aim is to create a vivid and contrast-rich panorama of the Milky Way's center, focusing primarily on the galaxy itself rather than the landscape. The landscape serves merely as a subtle reminder that we are still grounded on a beautiful planet, blessed with an extraordinary view of the night sky and the beauty of the universe.

If you are interessted in a more detail insight of that process, feel free to check my latest Photography Documentary about Astrophotography at the Teide National Park in Tenerife including a Photo Series of tracked Milky Way Panos and lots of behind-the-scenes texts and impressions:

I shot this image on my second day of my February 2015 Palm Beach Photographic Workshop to Cuba in Havana. (There are two spots left for my March 21-29 workshop. www.workshop.org/travel.php) I only brought two cameras to the workshop and three lenses. The cameras the amazing Nikon D750 and and a Nikon D800 modified (by lifepixel.com) to capture infrared.

The Lenses were the equally amazing and versatile Nikkor 28-300mm (AKA "the Street sweeper), Nikkor 24-120mm Nano and the Nikkor 80-400mm Nano coated lenses.

This image was captured with my Nikkor 28-300mm (AKA "the Street sweeper) my go to lens with my go to camera.

Post processing was done with Capture NX-D (Raw processing) Photoshop CC 2014, onOne Perfect Suite and Nik Collection Software.

Winter colours! Lofoten in its winter costume displays a palette of deep reds and blues until after the New Year when it changes to the clearest pastel colours you could imagine. The sun dips below the horizon creating colours the likes of which will not be seen at any other time of the year making this an extra special time.
Short days mean that you have a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Sometimes they show themselves as a veil of warm green tones, while at other times they flare across the sky as a colour inferno that goes from white to a reddish-purple. Suddenly they’re there, and just as suddenly they might disappear – a natural firework display.
Lofoten has everything a photographer dreams of: the Northern Lights, the midnight sun, mountains, fjords, beaches, picturesque fishing villages, fishermen's cabins, colourful wooden houses, polished granite walls, perfect surf waves and so much more.
Not to mention the Arctic light! Pastel-coloured skies that are reflected in the fjord. The grey tones when the weather is bad and damage done by storms create a mood that gives strong images that show the toughness of life in the North
