Image Description: |
My first time visiting this popular place on the Oregon Coast and I already yearn to get back here, despite nearly killing my poor camera. Photographs definitely do not compare to standing here. My good friend Jesse and I thought we might have a little trouble spotting it from the viewpoint in the low light before sunrise, but he saw it right as we got out of the car. It's a weird thing to see. Looks so organic. I took a time lapse with my iPhone and the thing almost looked like it was vomiting at 40 frames per second. Anyway, it was a really nice sunrise, but so windy and cold. Just before we left, I set my camera aside, atop its tripod while I took a couple shots with my phone. A gust of wind came up and, in slow motion, blew my tripod over smashing my camera on the rocks and dunking it in the water. I picked it up within milliseconds but the damage had been done. After drying it out for a couple days, I still had zero functionality. Sent it to Canon expecting the worst, but got it back within a couple weeks for a reasonable repair bill. Thank you Canon for saving my camera's life! |
